Arlington, TX: An Alvarado man remained in an Arlington jail Tuesday accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend's mother [ Maria A. Ramirez ] when the woman stepped outside her apartment to talk to him Sunday afternoon. No other injuries were reported. Luis A. Perez, 23, was arrested Sunday night after holding Arlington police at bay for a few hours at an Arlington apartment where authorities had tracked him. 
Memphis, TN: A 22-year-old man is being held in the Sunday night killing of a Memphis police officer and another man at Downtown’s DoubleTree Hotel. Multiple sources confirmed that Alexander Haydel, who is on a 48-hour hold at the Shelby County Jail, is the suspected shooter. He is expected to be charged, likely with two counts of first-degree murder, as soon as today. 
LaGrange, GA: The mother of Auburn University freshman receiver and Troup County High School football standout Quan Bray was shot and killed Sunday morning in LaGrange. According to WTVM-TV in Columbus, LaGrange police responding to a car accident found that the driver, Tonya Bray, had been shot in the head. She was pronounced dead at West Georgia Medical Center.

Nathaniel Fujita, 18, did not speak during his arraignment yesterday, where he was charged with the first-degree murder of Lauren Astley, also 18. 
Gibsonton, FL: Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man they say broke into his ex-wife's home and stabbed her to death as she slept. Deputies want to talk to anyone who has seen 34-year-old Egan Atkins immediately. They say he broke into 36-year-old Nicole Williams' Kings Lake home, by sneaking in through a side first floor window. 
Naples, FL: A Collier County woman is dead and the gunman is seriously injured, after shots are fired inside Physicians Regional Medical Center in Collier County. Deputies say the victim, Christine Moretz, was visiting the hospital just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, when her estranged husband, Jeffery Moretz, walked in, opened fire, killing Christine, before turning the gun on himself. 
Spicewood, TX: Three days after his girlfriend's body was discovered wrapped in a camping tent and weighted down by a paint can in Lake Travis, Joe Carr was stopped trying to cross the Canadian border, according to the Travis County sheriff's office. Carr was charged with tampering with evidence late Monday, and he is the main suspect in the death of 22-year-old Veronica Navarro, sheriff's spokesman Roger Wade said. 
Jacksonville, NC: The son of the deputy provost marshal at Camp Lejeune has been charged in the shooting death of a young Jacksonville woman. Timothy Joseph Akers, 24, is charged in the first degree murder of his girlfriend, 19-year-old Caitlyn Elizabeth Culpepper. Akers' father, Major Tim Akers, is head of the police force at Camp Lejeune. 
Riverside, CA: A woman killed in apparent murder-suicide in Riverside that was blamed on her husband has been identified as a Santa Ana College faculty member. Kesha Hondo, 39, was a speech communication professor at SAC, which she joined in 2005 after teaching stints at Goldenwest, Orange Coast and Long Beach City colleges and Cal State Long Beach. 
Madison, WI: Two preschool boys found dead in a parked car Wednesday morning were identified by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s office as Kevin McArthur III, 4, and his brother, Kemaury McArthur, 3. An autopsy suggests the two boys were victims of “homicidal violence,” a statement from the office said, noting additional testing continues.

Mankato, MN: A Golden Valley man slashed the throat of a Mankato college student after she told him she was seeing someone else, according to a murder charge filed Tuesday. Damone Christopher Williams-Tillman, 19, was charged with second-degree murder and appeared in Blue Earth County District Court in Mankato. He was ordered held in lieu of $400,000 bail. Williams-Tillman is accused of killing 19-year-old Josselyn Marie Bishop of Henderson, Minn. 
Bismarck, ND: Sgt. Steven Kenner, a long time and well known police officer, became the first officer in the Bismarck Police Department to be killed on the job. Kenner and another officer responded to a domestic disturbance call at 10:38 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of East Broadway Avenue for a man threatening a woman with a knife. 
Williamsburg, VA: Police have arrested a Williamsburg man and charged him with the murder of his wife who was found dead in a vacant field in July. Investigators arrested Barton Dale Trevillian, Tuesday, on an Indictment of 1st Degree Murder for the murder of his wife Kuan-Yu Trevillian. Trevillian, 49, was found dead on a vacant lot in the 300 block of Clifton’s Bluff in the Williamsburg area of York County on July 10th. 
Chicago, IL: A former police officer stands accused of plotting with his son and a friend to kill a girlfriend who had been pressuring him to "advance" their relationship, police said today. The plot unfolded Monday night near Dominican University in River Forest, where Chervon Alexander, 29, was shot to death, according to police. 
Bradley County, TN: Bradley County, Tennessee deputies are looking for a murder suspect who has killed before. Investigators believe David Keith Daugherty killed his wife, Elizabeth Annette Carney, leaving her body covered up inside their mobile home at 1235 6th St. NE. Carney's family, who referred to her as Annette, grew very concerned over the last few days. They live across the street and had not seen her. They found her dead wrapped in a blanket. 
Springfield, MO: Springfield Police have not said who killed whom in Tuesday’s apparent murder-suicide but the man has stabbed the woman before. Michael Clavier was convicted of assaulting Yvonne Clavier in 2008. According to court documents, Michael Clavier stabbed Yvonne, who was at that time Michael’s girlfriend, on Nov. 7, 2008. 
Sandy Springs, GA: Irene Mickens arrived at the Sandy Springs apartment Tuesday night to tend to her daughter, who, according to her soon-to-be ex-husband, was seriously ill. The five-year-old was not sick, it turns out. Jamal Mickens had taken the girl, along with the couple's 7-year-old son, to his sister's home in McDonough earlier that day before returning home to meet his wife. 
Laurens County, SC: A Laurens County deputy has been shot and killed as officers went to a home during a murder investigation. Sheriff Ricky Chastain said 29-year-old Deputy Roger Rice was shot and killed about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in Clinton. Officials said the shooting happened late Wednesday night during the search for a suspect involved in a homicide in Fountain Inn. Deputies said they were searching for Benny Brown, Jr. after investigators said he shot and killed his girlfriend, 38-year-old Nicole Kingsborough, outside the Fehrer auto parts plant where she worked earlier on Wednesday night. 
Cochran, GA: A Cochran man is charged with causing a fatal wreck by ramming his wife's car after an argument. Cochran Police Chief James Sanders says James Tripp faces several charges in the case, including DUI, murder and aggravated assault. He said Tripp's niece, 22-year-old Tiffany Herman, died in the two-car wreck. 
Albion, IL: Shady L. Beatty, 49, of Albion, has been arrested and charged with first degree murder after the death of his ex-wife. According to information from the Edwards County State’s Attorney’s office, at approximately 3:45 a.m. Thursday, Illinois State Police, Albion Police Department and Edwards County Sheriff Darby Boewe were notified of the death of Cynthia Ann Beatty, formerly Cynthia Ann Markman, of Albion. 
Portland, OR: A body found at Rocky Butte Park last week has officially been identified as murdered Portland teenager Yashanee Vaughn, police announced today. An autopsy showed Vaughn died of a gunshot wound to the head. Vaughn was first reported missing March 21, and six days later police received a lead that she may have been the victim of foul play. They later arrested 16-year-old Parrish Bennette in connection with her death. 
Ranson, WV: A Harpers Ferry man has been charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly shot and killed his former girlfriend Friday afternoon in the parking lot of the Southern States Cooperative store in Ranson, W.Va., according to city Police Chief William "Bill" Roper. Ray Cook, 37, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., was being held in Eastern Regional Jail without bond after he was arraigned by a Jefferson County magistrate on the capital offense, according to Roper and jail records. 
Lawrenceville, GA: Dental records confirmed that a body found Saturday is that of a missing Lawrenceville woman, Gwinnett County police told the AJC Monday afternoon. The woman's husband has been named a suspect. Dominique Leili, 44, had not been seen for more than a week when family and friends gathered to search for her Saturday. Minutes after beginning the search, a co-worker discovered a decomposed body under a piles of leaves in the neighborhood where the couple have lived nearly 12 years.

Medford, OR: Police suspect a 51-year-old Medford father stabbed his wife and four children and set their house on fire Monday morning in the largest homicide case in Jackson County history. Dozens of firefighters and police desperately tried to resuscitate 30-year-old Tabasha Paige-Criado and her four children, three boys ages 7, 6 and 5, and a 2-year-old girl before they were pronounced dead at local hospitals from stab wounds and smoke inhalation. 
Petaluma, CA: An off-duty Marin County sheriff's deputy who interceded in a domestic dispute involving a friend in Petaluma was shot and killed early today by a gunman, who was then shot dead, authorities said. Deputy Jim Mathiesen, 49, a nine-year department veteran assigned the Marin County jail, was shot shortly after midnight by Thomas Edwin Halloran, 28, on the 800 block of Liberty Road in Petaluma, said Sonoma County Assistant Sheriff Lorenzo Duenas. 
Greenville, TX: A Greenville man was arrested on Thursday morning for the shooting death of his ex-wife. The incident happened just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night in the 5600 block of Sayle Street. According to a news release from the City of Greenville, the Greenville Police Department was called to the scene by the victim, identified as 35-year-old Stella Michelle Ray, saying that her ex-husband was following her car and trying to run her off of the road. 
Port Wentworth, GA: “Fancy Nancy” and “High Booster,” Nancy and Kenneth Sanders were living the dream. They had a brand-new house with a two-car garage in Port Wentworth. Kenneth was bringing in $32 an hour working as a longshoreman. Nancy’s three daughters called him daddy. She had a collection of Coach purses. He had a big black truck and a Harley-Davidson. They’d just gotten back from vacation in Miami. Kenneth’s last words before hanging up on a 911 operator July 23 were about the life they had. “I had a good job and everything, but I gotta go,” he said. Nancy screamed for help in the background. 
Grand Prairie, TX: Relatives spoke Tuesday about their grief after the deadly weekend attack at a Grand Prairie roller rink where five members of a Vietnamese family [ Trini Do, Lynn Ta, Michelle Ta, Hien Ta, Thuy Nguyen ] were murdered. Some blame themselves for failing to intervene in the domestic dispute that exploded in a shooting rampage at a family birthday party Saturday night. 
Visalia, CA: It was an emotional scene as family and friends gathered outside the victim's house, after her brother found 26-year-old Kathryn Bradshaw dead inside the home they shared. "He was distraught and emotiona, he found his sister obviously passed away due to a murder," said Sean Daly, their neighbor and friend. 
Spindale, NC: A Rutherford County man is behind bars after his wife is found dead in the couple's home. A neighbor found the body of 48 yr. old Rosemarie Kuhl Sunday at her Spindale home. Darrell Shannon Kuhl is charged with first degree murder and is in the Rutherford County Jail. 
Kinston, NC: Police are trying to determine whether a body in Texas is that of North Carolina mom Laura Ackerson, and two people – the woman's former boyfriend and his new wife – have been arrested and charged in connection with her murder. Ackerson's ex-boyfriend Grant Ruffin Hayes and his wife, Amanda Perry Hayes, were taken into custody at 1 a.m. today in Kinston, N.C., and "charged with murder in connection with the death of Laura Jean Ackerson," according to a statement from police. 
Dorchester, MA: Their relationship was “on again, off again’’ since they started dating a year ago, two twenty-somethings from immigrant families. Prosecutors say that relationship ended brutally Sunday morning when Junior Fernandes fatally shot his girlfriend, Alessa Castellon. “He acknowledged his involvement… . He made several statements to police implicating himself,’’ David Fredette, a Suffolk assistant district attorney, said during Fernandes’s arraignment yesterday afternoon in Dorchester District Court. Fernandes faces murder and several weapons charges. 
Memphis, TN: Two people were killed Sunday morning after a domestic-violence incident spiraled out of control and led to a shootout with police. Neighbors identified one of the victims as Larry J. Redick Jr., 36, who owns the duplex at 3670 Rhea where the shooting occurred, in the Berclair-Highland Heights area of northeast Memphis. Also killed was Redick's wife, Latarsha Moore Redick, a security guard at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 
Shreveport, LA: Shreveport Police believe some kind of argument led to an apparent murder-suicide in south Shreveport early Monday morning, but the daughter of the woman killed disagrees. Police have identified the victims as 49-year-old Carolyn Douglas and her husband, 40-year-old Ryan Douglas. They had reportedly been married about seven years. Family says they had no idea the couple was having problems. 
Gautier, MS: A 23-year-old Gautier man was charged on a murder offense Wednesday morning after police found his girlfriend dead in her Ocean Estates home, authorities said. Marius Markee Kirkland was charged in connection to the stabbing death of 23-year-old Amanda Fallon Perkins, Lt. Matt Hoggatt said. 
Winder, GA: The husband of a missing woman has been arrested after a body was found in a well near his home. Tonya Faye Lynn was reported missing by her niece, Christa Royster, on Wednesday. Police said Royster received a text message from Lynn asking her to take care of the woman's children. 
Humble, TX: A man was charged with murder on Saturday in connection with the death of a 20-year-old missing Humble mother. James David Clarke Jr., 31, was arrested in the killing of Amber Chantel Elkins, authorities with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. The pair had been dating about a month prior to Elkins' July 24 disappearance, her family members said. » 
Oakland, CA: Cecil Kuuipo Sagapolu and Giselle Ortiz had a friendship as children and that relationship grew into something more as adults. Robin Ortiz, Giselle's mother, never liked Sagapolu and she let her daughter know. "When I found out she was with him last year, I wasn't happy," the Sacramento woman said. "I fought with her. She told me, 'I love him. I'm going to marry him.' I told her she was making a bad choice. A leopard doesn't change his spots. I told her he was never going to amount to anything. He was never going to go anywhere." Her worst fears about Sagapolu came true: He has been charged with fatally shooting her daughter in West Oakland on July 31.
