New Franklin, OH: Police have charged an 18-year-old Akron man with the bludgeoning deaths of Jeffrey and Margaret “Peg” Schobert, a New Franklin couple whose bodies were discovered in the bedroom of their Rex Lake Drive home Tuesday. Shawn Eric Ford, Jr. is facing two counts each of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary and one count of grand theft in connection with the murders. He was already in the Portage County Jail on an unrelated charge of obstructing justice. The charges against Ford were announced by New Franklin police Thursday afternoon at a joint news conference with Akron police. Ivy Hill, VA: A Spotsylvania County man is charged with felony hit and run after his girlfriend was found dead along a dirt road driveway. Spotsylvania dispatchers received an emergency call around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday from a man stating he found his girlfriend lying in the road with a gash on her head and that she was unresponsive. Upper Moreland, PA: A Montgomery County woman has been charged with murder following the death of a man stabbed at an apartment complex in Upper Moreland. Candice Phillips is charged with fatally stabbing 54-year-old Myron McClinton inside the apartment the two leased together. Police arrived at the Wellington Apartments in the 2500 block of Horsham Road at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday after a man called 911 saying he had been stabbed. Manchester Township, PA: Police have identified the couple who died in an apparent murder-suicide on Tuesday morning in York County. Authorities were called to a home in the 900 block of Hedgegate Lane in Manchester Township at around 1:45 p.m. They found 43-year-old Parag Patel and his wife, 41-year-old Niha Patel, dead in an upstairs bedroom. Boca Raton, FL: A U.S. Navy sailor, who was one of two victims in a March 25 stabbing that led to a standoff on Palm Beach, died Monday night from his injuries, according to the Boca Raton Police Department. Boca Raton police arrested Paul Charles, 24, after they say he called officers to confess to a knife attack on Matthew Charles Snow and Vanessa Vandermeeren-Sanchez and apologized profusely. Mohave Valley, AZ: A Mohave Valley man apparently shot his wife to death before taking his own life late Monday night in what authorities are calling a murder-suicide. On Monday, Lauderhill Police said, Darrius Johnson confessed that, a day earlier, he had "sacrificed the victim for the betterment of himself and the victim." Doris Ann Young, 43, died Sunday after being shot in the yard of a Pine Meadows Drive home, near Morrow, police said Monday.
