Searching through smoky chaos, they found the limp body of a critically injured little girl and the lifeless body of a young woman. Tuesday, authorities blamed an arsonist for the deaths of both. Murphys, CA: Calaveras County residents responded with shock and grief Sunday as they learned that a Little League coach, author and former airline pilot had shot his two teenage children to death and then turned the gun on himself at their home in one of the region's most exclusive neighborhoods. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office reported Sunday that deputies who arrived at the home on Sandalwood Drive in the Forest Meadows neighborhood of Murphys found Phillip Marshall, 54, dead in a pool of blood inside the front door. Isidro Zavala, 45, then shot himself — first in the chest and then in the head. Zavala and sons Eduardo, 12, and Mario, 11, died at the scene. On Monday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation identified the three victims as as Bridget N. Hughes, 39, Whitney Hughes 12, and Austin Hughes, 11. Mitchum says 45-year old Marcus Hoskins and his wife were driving home from Cobb County, where they were visiting family in the hospital. He says the two were arguing about "marital issues" when the argument escalated, and Hoskins put his pistol in his lap. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the couple’s home at midnight Wednesday on a report of a shooting that had just occurred, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
